Assign wristbands
Link a blank Peak QR band to a person in your group.
A short, phone-first guide for linking wristbands, checking people in and out, looking up profiles, and replacing lost bands on site.
You need a Peak login with a tracking role, a phone or tablet with a camera, and Peak QR wristbands for this event.
What you can do depends on your role. Modes you are not allowed to use simply do not appear.
Use the rear camera in good light. Keep the Peak tab open. Switching apps can pause the camera.
From Peak, open Tracking → Scanner (or your event’s scanner shortcut). You’ll land on Scanner setup.
Leaders also see group progress (assigned / on-site / off-site) above the mode controls.
Tap Allow camera and sound. Approve the browser prompt. Status should flip to Camera ready · Sound ready.
Pick a mode card, or (scanner role) choose a station and tap Start check-in.
Check the browser site settings for Camera (and microphone if asked). On iOS Safari, reload after changing permissions.
Organisers see every ops mode. Leaders usually start in Assign. Station-only scanners go straight to a gate picker.
Link a blank Peak QR band to a person in your group.
Mark people on-site or off-site at a named desk or gate.
Scan to view attendee details and emergency contacts.
Swap a lost or damaged band without unassigning the person.
*Leaders only see Profile lookup when first-aid access is enabled for them.
Use this when handing out blank bands at the start of an event (typical leader flow).
From setup, tap the Assign card (or continue if that’s your only mode).
Hold the band steady in the green guide until the hold ring completes. Peak confirms before linking.
If the band is blank, search or pick the attendee, confirm the link, then scan the next band.
If Peak says the band is already linked, don’t force it. Use Replace for lost/damaged bands, or ask an organiser.
For gate and desk volunteers. Each device should be tied to one open station.
Scanner accounts pick the gate on setup. Organisers pick it after tapping Station check in.
Tap Start check-in / Continue to check-in when camera, sound, and station are ready.
Peak marks the person on-site or offers check-out if they are already in. Confirm the sheet, then scan the next person.
Go back to Scanner setup and pick the correct open station before scanning again. Don’t share one phone across two gates without changing the station.
Keeps the same person linked while voiding the old code and activating a new blank band.
From the person’s tracking screen, or after scanning their old band where Replace is offered.
Select Lost, Damaged, or the matching option, then continue.
Centre the replacement Peak QR until Peak confirms. The old band can no longer check in.
Scan a band to see who it belongs to, where they last scanned, and emergency contacts. First-aid accounts often open straight into this camera after allowing permissions.
Organisers pick the mode card. Pure first-aid accounts skip the chooser.
Hold until Peak locks. The profile sheet slides up with photo and key fields.
Use View full profile for deeper medical or registration detail when your role allows it.
Assign bands to your group, watch progress, and replace lost bands for your people. You may also get profile lookup if first-aid access is enabled.
Pick your station once, then run check-in / check-out for the queue. You won’t see assign or replace.
Full mode chooser: profile, station check-in, and assign. Use replace when helping leaders with lost bands.
Profile lookup for emergency detail. After allowing the camera, Peak typically opens the lookup camera immediately.
Open the browser’s site settings for Peak → allow Camera → reload Scanner setup → tap Allow again. On iPhone, also check Settings → Safari → Camera.
You’re scanning something that isn’t a Peak wristband URL, or the code is damaged. Try another band or the replacement stock.
Wrong scanner prefix. Use bands printed for the current event.
In Assign mode, pick a blank band. If the person lost theirs, use Replace instead of assigning a second active band.
That person isn’t cleared for this gate. Check you’re on the correct station, or ask an organiser about allocation rules.
Reload the page and sign in again. Long idle periods on shared devices often cause this.
Your account’s tracking role only exposes certain modes. Ask an organiser if you need a different role for the shift.
Note the exact error message, which mode you were in, and whether the band was blank or already worn, then contact the event organiser.
